Don Yeargon gets H.O.T. YGS Victory @ Waco

....and what a Victory it was! The rain shortened the A-Main at Waco on Friday was not short of excitement though.
First time YGS feature winner Yeargon used his pole position to get the edge on outside front row starter #14k Stanley Kraly. The two raced side by side for 10 laps with Yeargon being scored the leader 9 of those laps, all with a little rubbing to go with.
Grand Prairie A-main Winner Chris Garrison, along with LCS Winner Brad Dudley started tail of the field providing excitement of their own. Garrison ended up 5th which landed the Slider Hard Charger award in his pocket.
Scurry, Tx' #13 Gavin Smith was a neat story for the night... Gavin had missed the first two YGS events due to the building of his car, but has been a top runner in the last three events. However, Friday was a little freaky...
follow me here... Gavin drew #13 for starting position, (again, his number is 13), he finished 3rd in the main, moved into 13th in points chase, with 113 points!! Is that an Omen or what? Great job Gavin!
Another tidbit, #101 Cody Nichols from Heath, Tx has had the most success of the year fighting for top 5's, along with a Superbowl YGS victory so far this season. Cody is providing some great excitement for the fans in the stands.
In 5 events so far, we have had 5 different winners, how's that for great, competitive racing?
There were several other things that took place Friday that gave me a little warm, fuzzy feeling... (no, I didn't tinkle my pants)... Several former YGS participants were on hand... 2008 Runner Up Zach Crawford, Chance Whitworth, Dustin Mooney, and Zac Sydney. It was neat to see those guys supporting the YGS!! Chance spent his night Crew Cheifing on the KSP1... Thanks Chance!
"Amerin Betteridge was also there racing his mini sprint with ASCS2 Mini Sprints. He finished 4th in his heat, but the rain came before the feature."

A short note from chief cook and bottle washer...
Three weeks ago, I posed a question to YGS participants on the YGS website, due to the fact I think the meaning of the series had gotten lost in trying to Win. The website had over 350 hits in the last three weeks, so I know a lot of people read it... The question was, "Do you really know what the YGS series is all about?". I expected at least 15 replies... I received 4 (four). Yep, that's it! Thank You for the support in helping get your Jr racers the experience they need to grow on in racing, all four of you.

Next up, Grayson County Speedway on Friday, July 3rd.

Happy Motoring!!
